School Coaching

P.E.

Lessons

Child development is of paramount importance to us. Our lessons have clear learning objectives, we pride ourselves on our ability to create a positive learning environment where we strive to ensure EVERY child achieves.

We can guarantee quality delivery, in line with our unique coaching philosophy, whether using our own lesson plans or following your scheme of work.

Our detailed lesson evaluations and individual pupil assessments will enable class teachers to monitor pupil and class progression throughout the school year.

We want our team to become not just sports coaches but a part of your school. Any coach delivering an Active Lesson will be fully briefed on your schools behaviour management policy to ensure consistency.

After School

Clubs

An Active Development Extra Curricular Sports Club can be tailored to your schools specific requirements.

We can offer structured coaching sessions in a sport from the national P.E curriculum in termly blocks. This gives children the opportunity to learn and develop in a small group, with more time spent on technique and skill practices than possible in a normal lesson.

Another popular option is our Multi-Sports club. These are more fun based sessions in which we combine fun active warm up games with a new sport for the children to try each week. Including conventional favourites like football and tag rugby as well as some more unusual games like Capture the Flag and Dodgeball.

OUR COACHING

Philosophy

Our philosophy is derived from a combination of research and time spent coaching, we believe in practice and guided discovery, we encourage creativity and problem solving.  We believe contact time is crucial and where possible we try to ensure each child has as much exposure to practice as possible, for example if the sport in question was basketball each child will at some point have a ball each, this increases the number of touches of the ball and therefore more time to practice a particular technique, allowing the child to achieve.

TESTIMONIALS

What people say about Active Development

Coach Nathan, Oli, Tyler & Cobi have been teaching PE in our school to cover PPA time in YR, Y1 & Y2 since the beginning of 2014/15. We have been impressed with their commitment to the school and the children. Through the great collaboration we have set up Nathan has ensured that the children are covering our PE Scheme of Work, and the coaches have been willing to adapt and improve it where they feel their expertise fits. They also come in early to set up and make sure they get the children involved in some activity at the end of the lunchtime break twice a week. We’ve used them for some staff CPD so that the teachers are also using this as a chance to improve their practice and pick up some good ideas. The benefit of using Active Development is just as they had promised, the children get the same coaches and they are reliable and most of all the children are making progress in their PE.

They have provided a very reliable service of top quality coaching delivered by warm, enthusiastic approachable staff. In addition to regular PPA Cover and an After School Club Nathan organised a fabulous Olympic Celebration Day with great ideas for content, structure and organisation.
Dieter Cook, Head Teacher, Bishop Sutton Primary School
Active Development have made a huge impact on improving the lives of children in Paulton, by providing excellent sporting holiday courses over the past 4 years. The coaches have ensured lively, fun and engaging activities whilst giving the children quality sports coaching at the same time. They have worked very closely with the school, every holiday course has been very popular with the children. Feedback from both parents and children alike has been extremely positive (my own two girls absolutely loved it). I would highly recommend the services provided by Active Development not only because of the professionalism of the staff but also because the organisation was first class: meaning no hassle for us. Perfect! We are all looking forward to the next course that they run here.
Matt Grosvenor Head Teacher, Paulton Junior School

Active Development has been providing additional sport coaching, teacher INSET and an after-school football club since 2014/15. Our staff have found them to be professional, reliable and focussed on improving the children’s PE skills. The coaches are always on time and well prepared. Staff say the children find the activities engaging and inclusive of all. Class management is very good and the children have respect for the coaches. In addition, Nathan has arranged and overseen inter-school football matches and we know the children will be safe and well-supervised in his care.
